Little Boy Valentine

Aaron Brown ( www.aaronsbooth32.blogspot.com) recently posted a sweet card using a digger with a heart. I had a similar retired CTMH stamp in the Little Builder set. So I have made my version. It seemed perfect for my little grandsons. The image was stamped on Colonial White using Desert Sand and Cocoa inks. Mats are Cranberry and Cocoa cardstock. The background papaer is from TCP 'A Little Lovin". I punched out little hearts and cut the shovel to tuck one in.
It's a fun boy card.

Find Your Style

This card was SO fun to make! In the latest Papercrafts magazine they said that grey was the new black...and there was a card made from ribbons to look like a gown....this was just perfect for this month's CTMH stamp set Find Your Style. The bird and butterfly on yesterday's post are also part of this fabulous set. One more image I haven't used yet --soon to come.
I used two pieces of ribbon for the skirt- a soft yellow grosgrain and a yellow organdy- slip stitched to gather and glue dotted it in place. The necklace is with licorice pearls -a new embellishment in the CTMH catty.
The stamp was inked with Grey Flannel and the left side rolled in black ink; matted with Buttercup and Grey Flannel cardstock. The black background paper is the CTMH Wings collection. You've seen a bit of it here already. It's wonderful, versatile paper.

I couldn't decide on a sentiment, so it's plain. I wish my photo did it justice, because it is so pretty in person. There are so many details in the stamp image that aren't showing here.

It was a fine day. I got to organize a little in my classroom, did the grocery shopping, met a very wonderful friend for dinner, talked on the phone with the grandsons ( 2+ 4 years old) and got a 'phone kiss' from the little one.
Now...must...grade...finals......

Copy Cat

Sometimes cards I see are just so pretty I have to make one myself! That is the case with these two cards today. The butterfly is a Lisa Stenz design completely - she used CTMH Pear, Sky and Sorbet inks and background paper from the Magnifique collection. The butterfly has been stamped twice and layered for the 'in flight' look. It is done with three inks sponged onto the stamp or 'rock and rolled'. My butterfly is not quite as pretty as hers.

The second card is a copy of one I saw on the CTMH BB and cannot find the pencil sketch I made with the artist's name :( I apologize. This sweet card uses the Petite Perks stamps, Blush and Tulip cardstock and inks, white grosgrain ribbon - all CTMH. My only addition to her design was to use the new CTMH spray pen on the card base. These are such fun and add subtle color and sparkle. I used Tulip reinker and a few drops of Pearl paint.

We had a good time making eight or nine different cards yesterday. Now I am taking a break from typing Civics and AP Gov finals....back to work.

January Stamp of the Month

There are some really beautiful images on this CTMH set, Find Your Style. My customers made several this weekend, and I will post them during the week.

The first is a soaring bird. Here it has been inked with Sky and 'rolled' in Juniper. The strips of bakground paper are from the Wings paper collection. Cardstock matting has been done using Juniper and New England Ivy cardstock. The ladies learned to make folded ribbon. It's an elegant addition, but still lies flat for mailing. The background is randon stamped with the verse using Bamboo ink, and both pieces of Colonial White have been sponged around the edges with Banmboo.
The verse reads: "A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and will sing it back to you when you forget the words."
Isn't that lovely?
Thank you for all my good friends out there!

Wishes for happiness

A friend at work is engaged and I finally made a little card to congratulate her. I saw a card with a ring like this in a magazine - a clever idea, quick and simple to make, too!

It's been a busy week at school - trying to finish up units and projects for the semester end. Finals next week....the year is flying by.

Looking forward to stamping with my group tomorrow - I still have some paper cutting to do, and a few challenges I'd love to try.

products used: CTMH Wings background paper, black cardstock and ink, Holiday red ribbon, Kanji Phrases stamp set, clear sparkles. (other) Silver pen, EK border punch

It's a Game!

My January card workshop will feature Wings paper and several new stamp sets. This darling It's A Game set is only $5.00 when the Wings Workshop On the Go set is purchased. It's a versatile stamp. We'll be making two cards with it next week. The card using the Wings paper is directly from the CTMH brochure - couldn't improve on their great design! The thank you card uses other elements from the set with CTMH's new sky and pear cardstocks and ink. The stamped pieces are punched and set up with a little foam tape for dimension.

Barely There OLW 36

Trying again to perfect the art of Clean & Simple... when I was in acting school (many decades ago!), I found that comedy was more challenging than heavy drama. Now I find that simple, one layer cards are very challenging compared to multiple layers and embellishments. This is my take on the latest challenge at http//:stylesink.ca/ to "make a one layer card with a bare plant image."

I shaded inside an oval stencil using Sky and Twilight inks. I stamped the bare branch using a stamp from the CTMH Twitterpated WOTG set. I added falling snow with White Daisy ink and embossed it with white embossing powder. The senitment is from a long-retired set called Vintage Christmas, but I think it works well for simple a winter hello.

FT122 On the WINGS of Love

Yes, this is last week's challenge. I'm more than behind! But I think I've figured out enough of my new system to get back to posting. This is a card we will be making at my card workshop next weekend. The paper used is the new Wings collection from Close to My Heart, and a new stamp, Rosy Regards (B1369). I used Vineyard Berry ink and then stamped VersaMark over that and embossed with transparent glitter power on the sentiment and the outline portion of the rose. Used an EK border stamp for the strip on the left. It's a standard size card, the squares are 2 1/8".
Hope to be back later today with more of the workshop line-up.

Birthday Cupcake + Bugaboo Chick

This darling little chick with presents is a Bugaboo stamp. There are many cute celebrating chicks in the set. I colored him up and made a matchook card (with a packet of footcream inside) to go with the spa socks that have been 'made' into a cupcake. I did many of these at Christmas, and keep finding great sales on spa socks so soon everyone will have them!

This is the first time I have tried pictures on my new computer. So if this test works well, I'll be able to post some of next week's workshop cards tomorrow.
It feels good to be blogging again!

Happy New Year

It was a sad end to my computer Wednesday....fortunately, I had just backed up all my photos and documents on an external hard drive (very fortuitous Christmas gift!)
But for now I am barely managing a bit of school related work on an old laptop loaned from my son...So probably no creations will be posted until this is resolved.
Sorry to any visitors.
There is a new challenge on Heart 2 Heart...hope I can get to that.
Have a wonderful finish to your weekend.
